Baking attempt #4 – Vanilla sugar cookies
If I was only sharing “recipes”, and not blogging about the experience, I would be tempted not to post anything about the cookies. While I had grand plans to supplement the vanilla sugar cookies with other ones from scratch, instead we just did these ones from a mix. All we had to add was eggs and milk.

The real fun though was that Jacob received “emoji cookie cutters” for Christmas, plus I received a snowflake cutter with the mix. In addition, we dug out some other ones that were gingerbread men (less some arms, legs, or a head). Maybe “gingerbread a la Brothers Grimm”. Jacob had fun doing the designs, although the dough was really sticky. We ended up having to add a lot of flour to just get it to roll out each time, not to mention prying the cookies off the bread board.

We even patted and marked it with the letters J (for Jacob), P (PolyWogg) and M (Mom).

They even turned out to be pretty tasty. Although I think Jacob liked how they looked too.

I really liked the cookie cutters, and found out too that I actually LIKE sugar cookies (I think I confused them in name with shortbreads, which I don’t like). Next outing we’ll do some chocolate chip ones from scratch, but these are certainly going in the win column.
