JotD: Roasting a chicken (PWH00016)

The PolyBlog
May 13 2025
The street chef was roasting a chicken on a portable rotisserie and had begun to hand-crank it to ensure all areas were evenly done. It was now getting golden brown, and juices were causing some flames to lick the chicken as he turned it. Just then, a passing drunk stumbled into the guy’s cart, looked at the scene and exclaimed: “Hey buddy, not only is your music box not making any music, but your monkey’s on fire!”

Sweet Chicken Curry (REC00005) – 🐸🐸🐸🐸⚪

The PolyBlog
January 5 2017

This was an adaptation from a diet recipe book for slow cookers, and was a pretty easy recipe (particularly using the slow cooker, but also just the limited number of items to chop / dice / slice). And the mango chutney is really the key to the sweet taste. I wasn’t a big fan of chutney before, but it is awesome here.

  • 1 large green or red bell pepper, chopped into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 large onion. sliced
  • 1 large tomato, seeded and chopped
  • 1/2 cup mango chutney
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1.5 tbsp curry powder
  • Hot cooked rice

Sous-Chef Preparations

  1. Chop the boneless, skinless chicken breasts (1 lb / .5 kg) into 1-inch pieces.
  2. Chop the bell pepper (1 green or red) into 1-inch pieces.

By now, most people have seen some form of AI crop up in their tools. The most obvious one is Google’s search engine, which provides results from its AI mode first in the list. You can go pretty far with that prompt, even asking for image creation, although that’s a terrible place to create images … Continue reading →

I wrote earlier this week (Using Calibre to embrace my inner librarian for ebooks) about the Poly Library 3.0, and when I did, I thought I had most of my “work” done. I had decided on three main areas (the book profile, user engagement, and user tools), although, truth be told, I had four categories … Continue reading →

  • Using Calibre to embrace my inner librarian for ebooksMarch 23, 2026
I have used Calibre literally for years to manage all my ebooks. It started way back when Kindle was doing a huge business of people pushing freebies of their ebooks. Some good, some slush, all free. But it meant a LOT of ebooks to manage. So I tried a couple of programs, most of which … Continue reading →
